Mural and Design Commissions F.A.Q.
So you saw my murals on the street or some design stuff I did and you’ve decided you need to talk to me…
Here’s how it works.

I have over 23 years (Yes, I’m that old) experience designing for web/print/mobile/toys for such clients as Universal Music Group, DKE Toys, EMI, Guthy Renker, Viacom and The City of Westminster, London. My rates start at $80/hr.

MURALS:
This is for both decorative and fine art murals. Your ideas or mine.
People are always asking me for a quote off the cuff..
Straight up, I charge from $10-$150 a square foot, with a minimum of 15 sq ft.*
A 1/3rd to 1/2 deposit is required before the work is started (that includes sketches.)
It’s difficult to give someone an instant quote amount when they stop me on the street
because there are always variables that need to be accounted for, such as:
1. location and square footage (restricted hours of operation, cramped spaces or driving time and distance.)
2. cost of materials
3. intricacy of design (the amount of detail and style of the work)/wall conditions… deeply mortared/scored brick vs flat wall.
4. working conditions (accessibility to the space, need for specialized equipment or scaffolding)**
5. the amount of time it will take
For example,
You have a wall that’s 14×10 feet which = 140 sq ft.
Take your square footage and multiply that by $10 a square foot. (ex: $10 x 140 sq ft = $1400)
That will be your base cost, so you have a idea of what this will run you.
So now, you know what you’re looking at.
Easy enough, yeah? Now that makes things a lot less awkward when you get in touch.

*Any prep painting, wall patching, or wall preparation will be an additional fee.
** The work space needs to be cleared of any pests, fire ant mounds, in particular. You can buy bags of the granules to kill them at any hardware or grocery for around $5.
In the Southern US, this is a particular issue and unfortunately, there is precedence for this addition.
